Designed as the 'Coronation of the Virgin', Mary crowned as Queen of Heaven with praying hands, seated beside Christ holding the globe with His right arm raised in blessing, traces of polychrome, mounted on a crimson silk-velvet stand, typical old losses. Dimensions excluding mount.

Literature: Francis Cheetham, 'English Medieval Alabasters' (1984) p.210 (no. 137) illustrates the only panel in the Victoria & Albert Museum's renowned alabaster panel collection depicting Christ and the Virgin seated side by side.
