A rare pair of 15th century carved oak angel corbels, English, circa 1490
REF: 5184
Each winged, with long hair falling over their tunic collar, and holding a shield, carved with a closed or domed Imperial crown, later cut and block mounted, dimensions overall, (2)
The design of each crown is subtly different. Although Henry V (1413-1422) is recorded to have worn a closed crown, opposed to an open circlet, it was particularly adopted by Henry VII, as seen on coinage from 1489
