Of boarded construction with applied rails to simulate panels, the lid with two 'panels', the front with two arcaded 'panels', each inlaid with strapwork and framed by inlaid panels simulating root-work, further geometric inlay to the sides centred by iron bale handles, base moulding, working key.
Traces of sealing wax around the lock may very well indicate a form of 'tamper-proofing' to ensure the box retained its integrity whilst locked.
